Great White Pelicans treated at JCT
We had 5 Great White Pelicans come in that were injured by kite string. Four of them had their wings cut rather badly and after surgery was found that they would never fly again. These birds were then shifted to the zoo, where they will be housed with the other pelicans and used for breeding. Another one of those birds was severely dehydrated and in a really bad shape, it was brought back from the brink of death and has become really tame since then. This particular bird, a juvenile, christened Jack, won’t be able to fly again as his wing had been fractured and fused back improperly. But he has a lot of fun with his caretakers inside our aviary.
