Memorandum of Understanding signed between Kamdhenu University (KU) and Jivdaya Charitable Trust (JCT)
On the 3rd of October 2023, a significant and proud moment occurred when Jivdaya Charitable Trust entered a Memorandum of Understanding with ‘Kamdhenu University.’ This partnership aims to facilitate research, collaborate on joint proposals, conduct need-based studies, provide professional training, and initiate efforts to enhance animal health and welfare.
Kamdhenu University is a renowned institution in the field of Veterinary and Animal Science. Established by the government of Gujarat and accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in New Delhi, Kamdhenu University, also known as KU, boasts five veterinary colleges in Anand, SK Nagar, Navsari, Junagadh, and Himmatnagar, as well as four dairy colleges in Anand, SK Nagar, Amreli, and Mehsana. Additionally, it oversees three fisheries colleges in Veraval, Navsari, and Himmatnagar, along with numerous research stations and livestock farms.
On the other hand, Jivdaya Charitable Trust (referred to as JCT) is an animal welfare organization that has been providing free medical treatment and rehabilitation to stray animals and birds in Gujarat since 2007. In addition to its medical services, JCT actively educates the public, students, and professionals about animal welfare through various campaigns, workshops, and technical training sessions. Over the years, Jivdaya has successfully administered over 1.5 million treatments and educated more than 500,000 individuals.
The collaboration between one of India’s premier universities and one of Gujarat’s top animal welfare organizations is poised to have a significant impact. It will improve the plight of stray animals and raise the standard of technical training and knowledge in animal welfare in the days to come.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr D. B. Patil, Director of Research and Dean of PG Studies at Kamdhenu University, and Dr N. H.
