Overview
Who we are, what the campus does, and how Jivdaya grew into Gujarat’s largest veterinary facility for un-owned animals and birds.
The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
Split the word and it explains itself: jiv means life, daya means being kind. Jivdaya is compassion for all living beings.
Jivdaya Charitable Trust is a non-profit animal welfare organisation. It provides care and medical aid to injured stray birds and animals, runs a rehabilitation centre for birds, reptiles and wild mammals, and manages a well-equipped veterinary hospital for critical surgeries and care. The JCT veterinary facility is the largest in Gujarat.
Operations began in 2007 with limited resources. Today the organisation runs two mobile clinic vans, two operation theatres — one for animals and one for birds — a call centre, dedicated departments and wards, and a team of 72 skilled staff including nine experienced veterinarians.
JCT reaches traumatised animals and birds in acute pain and aims to restore them to health, then return them to their own territory. Animal lovers from across the city and the state bring injured, diseased and traumatised stray animals to this hospital.
Two mobile treatment vans attend cases that do not need hospitalisation. The trust also promotes adoption rather than buying a pet, and runs workshops and programmes that ask people to be more compassionate toward birds and animals.
